Prof. Amnon Shashua

Prof. Amnon Shashua is President & CEO of Mobileye and a Senior Vice President at Intel Corporation. In 1999, he cofounded Mobileye with Ziv Aviram, which develops system-on-chips and computer vision algorithms for driving assistance systems and is developing a platform for autonomous driving to be launched in 2021. Today, over 50 million cars rely on Mobileye technology to make their vehicles safer. In August 2014, Mobileye claimed the title for largest Israeli IPO ever, by raising $1B at a market cap of $5.3B. In August 2017, Mobileye became an Intel company in the largest Israeli acquisition deal ever, for a total of $15.3B.

Prof. Shashua holds the Sachs Chair in Computer Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; his field of expertise is computer vision and machine learning. Shashua has published over 120 papers in the field of machine learning and computational vision and holds over 45 patents. In addition to Mobileye, he has founded two startups in the fields of computer vision and machine learning: in 1995 he founded CogniTens, which specializes in industrial metrology and is today a division of the Swedish Corporation Hexagon. In 2010, he co-founded OrCam, which harnesses computer vision and artificial intelligence to assist the visually and hearing impaired.

In 2019, Shashua was recognized as the Electronic Imaging (EI) Scientist of the Year by the Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T) for his pivotal contributions to computer vision and machine learning, and for advancing autonomous driving and wearable assistive devices for the blind and visually impaired. Shashua and his team were also finalists in the European Inventor Awards of 2019, awarded by the European Patent Office, for their advanced driver assistance technology which is making roads safer worldwide. In 2020, Shashua was awarded the Dan David Prize (Future Category) for his ground-breaking work in artificial intelligence.

Mr. Yosi Arbeli

Arbeli received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Jerusalem College of Engineering in 2006. He has authored multiple patents and is recognized as an SoC design specialist within the company.

Mr. Shay Asoolin

Vice President, Development Infrastructure

Shay Asoolin leads Mobileye’s development infrastructure team responsible for in-house tooling and infrastructure including Mobileye’s cloud environment, application development lifecycle, and video visualization and labeling tools. He also oversees the large group running Mobileye’s video labeling operation. In this role, Asoolin helps developers work more efficiently which translates into an accelerated development cycle and large scale development work across the company.

Mr. Tomer Baba

As the leader of Mobileye’s Sensing Algorithms team, Tomer Baba spearheads the development of computer vision for all of Mobileye’s advanced driver assistance (ADAS) and autonomous driving systems. His team is responsible for all of the vision algorithms used in both types of applications. Baba has been instrumental in the research and development of several of Mobileye’s leading technologies, including pedestrian detection, automated emergency braking, and camera-based sensing for autonomous vehicles. He is responsible for the first-ever camera-based capability of braking on a pedestrian target, for which he holds multiple patents and for which there is still no better-known system in the market.

He holds a bachelor of science in computer engineering and a master’s degree in computer science, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Mr. Tal Babaioff

Tal Babaioff is responsible for mapping and localization at Mobileye. In this critical role, Babaioff’s team (jointly managed with Yoram Gedalyahu) is responsible for creating the high-definition maps that are needed for highly and fully autonomous vehicles. Using Mobileye’s Road Experience Management™ (REM™) technology, Babaioff’s team uses a crowd sourcing approach to collect the data needed for the map creation and compiles that data into useful maps. Babaioff joined Mobileye in 2002 as an algorithm developer.

In his 17-year career, he has worked on Mobileye’s business development team as well as advanced evaluation platforms for key Mobileye customers. His previous VP role was leading Mobileye’s production organization between 2014 - 2017, overseeing all customer-facing execution of OEM integrated safety systems, and allowing Mobileye triple the number of new systems delivered other that time frame. Before that, Babaioff personally led the first production program launches for the first three generations of Mobileye’s System-on-Chip, known as EyeQ®, EyeQ2 and EyeQ3.

Babaioff holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Outside of work, he volunteers for his daughter’s school as finance chair and is an avid reader and hiker.

Diane Be'ery is the VP of Marketing at Mobileye where she leads the team responsible for crafting the company's messaging, managing the brand globally, and executing online and offline campaigns for demand generation and brand awareness. In her time at Mobileye, Diane has greatly enjoyed taking part in building the Mobileye marketing department from the ground up. Previously, she worked in marketing and content writing at two seed-stage startups in Jerusalem where she caught the hi-tech bug after working for a number of years in research and education. She earned an MA in Politics & Communications from Hebrew University, and a BA in Political Science from the University of California San Diego. Originally from Los Angeles, Diane has been living in Israel for more than a decade and today lives in Jerusalem with her husband and two kids. She loves keyboard shortcuts and making complex ideas simple to understand.

Mr. Efim Belman

Efim Belman oversees all system architecture and modeling at Mobileye. His team is responsible for all architecture design and engineering for complete systems, the platform level hardware and software, as well as applications. Belman’s scope includes the EyeQ family and other Mobileye products.

Belman joined Mobileye after receiving a bachelor of science degree in math and computer science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He started out developing algorithms and quickly worked his way into management, including leadership of Mobileye’s camera group – a responsibility he continues as VP of system architecture. During his nearly two decades at Mobileye, Belman has filed more than 20 patents.

Mr. Sagi Ben Moshe

In his dual role for Intel and Mobileye, Sagi Ben Moshe is responsible for leading sensor technologies at Mobileye as well as the Emerging Growth Incubation (EGI) group at Intel. EGI is responsible for identifying, incubating and scaling growth businesses for Intel. As part of EGI, Ben Moshe is also general Manager of the RealSense Group, which develops the next-generation hardware and software products that allow devices and machines the ability to perceive their surroundings in 3D. The introduction of the first Intel RealSense™ technology-enabled camera in 2015 earned him Intel’s highest honor: the Intel Achievement Award.

Ben Moshe initially joined Intel part-time in 2004, as a member of the design team for the first mobile version of the Intel® Core™ 2 processor. He came on board full-time two years later to work on the development of a new memory architecture for Intel’s next-generation microarchitecture. In 2009, Ben Moshe left Intel to establish InVision Biometrics Ltd., a startup dedicated to innovative 3D technology. He rejoined Intel in 2012 with Intel’s acquisition of InVision, where he had served as CEO.

Ben Moshe’s entrepreneurship started earlier in his career with the founding of several companies and the acquisition management of Cohav Hakor, the largest air conditioner chain in Israel, by Electra Ltd. Ben Moshe holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science, both earned at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He has been granted multiple patents for his inventions. Outside of work, Ben Moshe likes to spend time with his wife and four children.

Mr. Barak Cohen

Barak Cohen is a senior technical leader at Mobileye, leading teams responsible for the first prototypes and productization of cutting-edge Mobileye technologies. Since joining Mobileye in 2005, he has been instrumental in the development of breakthrough technologies in the field of object recognition and environmental modeling. These include pedestrian detection, vehicle from any angle detection (vd3d), free space and road boundaries detection, arbitrary object detection, geometrical modeling with structure from motion (SFM), road modeling, ego motion, and more.

More recently, Cohen joined Mobileye’s autonomous vehicle development team and is helping develop the company’s approach to AV design. Internally, he is a champion for healthy work methodologies and good development infrastructure and tools. He holds 6 patents, 1 allowed, and 15 pending in the area of computer science.

Cohen attended the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering and Master of Science in computer science.

Mrs. Liz Cohen-Yerushalmi

Orna Etzion is a 28-year Intel veteran now leading Mobileye’s compute software team for the EyeQ product family. Etzion’s group is responsible for the compute software infrastructure of the EyeQ SoC focusing on the EyeQ acceleartors including software development tools, deep learning tools, OpenCL programming model, libraries and firmware on all accelerators.

With a master of science degree in Computer Science from the University of Philadelphia, Etzion has specialized in software her entire career working on a number of products in the area of compilers and binary translation, with emphasis on software optimizations and the adaptation of software to the HW at hand as a means for achieving the best possible performance. This experience has been especially valuable for her work on the EyeQ software stack as she aims to deliver high performance HW/SW infrastructure for the execution of Mobileye algorithms on EyeQ.

Etzion has authored more than 10 patents and has received a number of Intel awards. She is married with four daughters and three grandchildren.

Dr. Yoram Gdalyahu

Heller gained extensive professional experience through witnessing Mobileye's transformation from a private startup to a public company to being acquired by Intel. She cites Mobileye’s IPO in NYSE as one of the most interesting and educational experiences of her career.

Prior to joining Mobileye, Heller served as deputy corporate controller at a global hi-tech company dual listed on NASDAQ and Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, which was acquired by a US based public company. Heller had also served as a senior associate at PWC Israel’s hi-tech audit group.

Mr. Tsachi Namir

Tsachi Namir leads the functionality and products validation efforts at Mobileye. This work includes performance analysis of Mobileye's algorithms, product validation, autonomous vehicle operation and validation, data collection and engineering.

During his 12 years at Mobileye, Namir has worked to significantly improve validation processes leading to better product quality. His team of experts, managers and engineers develops relevant system success measures and new ground-truth solutions, and has adapted statistical methods to meet Mobileye validation requirements. His team also developed and established an AV operation and validation platform to support Mobileye's autonomous vehicle engineering. Namir’s team also developed procedures and tools for data collection, management and engineering in support of all Mobileye R&D users.

Namir graduated summa cum laude from the Ono Academic College with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. He spends time away from work with his wife and four children.

Before joining Mobileye, Ohayon worked as regional operations & delivery manager of EMEA for a leading cyber and security company and spent 10 years at Cisco Systems as a strategic programs manager.

Ohayon received his bachelor of computer science in software engineering from the Jerusalem College of Engineering. In his spare time, he plays on Mobileye’s basketball team and goes on motorbike trips around the world. He also aspires to learn to play the guitar.

Mr. Elchanan Rushinek

Elchanan Rushinek leads a team of engineers working on Mobileye’s EyeQ platform, including all of the silicon, hardware and software that comprise the platform. He joined Mobileye in 2001 to lead development of the highly specialized system-on-chip (SoC) that became the successful EyeQ product family. In this role, Rushinek was an early pioneer in the co-development of an optimized hardware/software solution dedicated to advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). More than 30 million EyeQ units have been shipped to date.

In addition to developing and delivering the ongoing EyeQ roadmap, Rushinek’s team is working to open up the EyeQ product to enable customers to develop software on top of the platform for their automated vehicle solutions.

Before joining Mobileye, Rushinek worked as a VLSI designer for Intel Israel and was involved in the design of the first 10MB Ethernet controller product. He then worked at Motorola Semiconductor Israel for 18 years, leading VLSI design group for multiple generations of Digital Signal Processor Motorola Wireless Handset Baseband’s System On Chip products.

Rushinek holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Tel Aviv University. Away from work he keeps active with bicycling and skiing, working in the garden, and traveling with his family.

Mr. Pini Segal

Vice President, Finance and Human Resources

Pini Segal has been vice president of human resources and finance during his entire 13-year tenure at Mobileye, although the role has evolved as the company has grown. He played an important role during Intel’s acquisition of Mobileye in 2017, which he says was by far the most interesting and challenging project of his career.

Segal joined Mobileye after a long career in the public and private sectors. For part of that time he worked in the manufacturing of optics and electronics. He also worked as the treasurer of Or Shalom, an organization for at-risk youth in Israel. In addition to his career, he spent 17 years as the general manager and member of Kibbutz Eyal. This experience helped him develop the skills of supervising others and working well in teams. He was drafted into the Israeli Army in 1973 and served during the Yom Kippur War.

Segal received both his bachelor’s degree (economics and management) and master’s degree (finance and information systems) from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He is a super fan of Liverpool soccer and is delighted to be a new grandfather.

Shai Shalev-Shwartz is a senior fellow at Intel and the chief technology officer of Mobileye, an Intel Company. He leads software and algorithm technology development for Mobileye’s advanced driving assist systems (ADAS), highly autonomous and fully autonomous driving solutions, and enabling technologies including Responsibility-Sensitive Safety (RSS) and Road Experience Management™ (REM™) maps. He is also a professor at the Rachel and Selim Benin School of Computer Science and Engineering at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Shalev-Shwartz developed the science behind RSS as well as an economically viable path toward a future where there are no casualties from car accidents. He is drawn to autonomous driving as the first large scale deployment of artificial intelligence and machine learning outside of the cybernetic world.

Shalev-Shwartz is best known for pioneering research in machine learning and was listed as one of the 100 most influential researchers worldwide in 2016 by AMiner. In 2014, he co-authored one of the top books used by major universities on theoretical machine learning: “Understanding Machine Learning From Theory to Algorithms.” Before joining Hebrew University and Mobileye, Shalev-Shwartz was a research assistant professor at Toyota Technological Institute in Chicago, and also worked in research at both Google and IBM. Shalev-Shwartz has written more than 100 research papers, focusing on machine learning, online prediction, optimization techniques, and practical algorithms.

In 2020, he was awarded the prestigious Michael Bruno Award for his groundbreaking research and his unique contribution to computer science and engineering.

Mr. Shaked Shammah

Shaked Shammah is a senior technical member of the team that develops driving policy algorithms for autonomous vehicles. He has also worked closely with senior Mobileye leaders developing algorithms for Mobileye’s Responsibility-Sensitive Safety model for safety verification of an AV’s driving decisions.

In his six years at Mobileye, Shammah has also helped with algorithm development on the road detection team and the holistic path prediction (HPP) neural network. He is credited with 2 patents during his tenure, and 28 pending. Prior to joining Mobileye, Shammah served as an “outstanding musician” at the IDF, and earned a Bachelor of Music in classical music from the Jerusalem Academy of Music. He also earned his Master of Science degree summa cum laude in computer science from Hebrew University in 2017.

Shammah continues to enjoy music outside of work as well as many hours of training and competing in triathlons.

Mr. Leonid Smolansky

Leonid Smolyansky leads the silicon-on-chip (SoC) architecture team delivering cost, performance and power-optimized solutions for the Mobileye EyeQ product family. He also works with customers and third-party IP vendors to define EyeQ product requirements related to performance, connectivity, automotive safety and security.

Smolyansky brings more than 20 years of experience in SoC architecture and design at both Motorola and later Freescale to Mobileye. In the latter role, he was chief architect of the i.MX product family. He later moved to AMD as a fellow and systems and architecture manager. Smolyansky was the lead architect behind Mobileye’s next-generation EyeQ5 SoC, which is expected to deliver real breakthroughs in terms of performance, price and power consumption for fully autonomous vehicles. As an active member of the MIPI Alliance, he participated on working groups for SLIMbus, UniPro, and now - APHY.

(1993) in computer vision from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a BSc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion (1990, Summa Cum Laude). As VP R&D from 1999 to 2005, he led the development of Mobileye’s first ADAS systems incorporating lane detection, vehicle detection, traffic sign detection and high beam control. Since 2005, as chief research scientist, he both heads Mobileye’s patent team and helps with algorithm and camera development.

Jack Weast is a senior principal engineer at Intel and Vice President for Automated Vehicle Standards at Mobileye. In this role, Weast leads a global team working on AV safety technology and the standards that will be needed to ensure AVs can earn a license to drive.

In more than 20 years at Intel, Weast has built a reputation as a change agent in new industries with significant technical contributions to a wide range of industry-first products and standards in industries that are embracing complex, high-performance heterogeneous computing for the first time. With an end-to-end systems perspective, Weast combines a unique blend of embedded product experience with a knack for elegant system and software design that will accelerate the adoption of autonomous driving. Weast is the co-author of “UPnP: Design By Example”, and is the holder of 29 issued patents with dozens pending. He is an Adjunct Professor at Portland State University where he was recently inducted into the Portland State Maseeh College Academy of Distinguished Alumni in recognition of his achievements, leadership and service to society and the engineering and computer science profession.

Under the leadership of Uri Yacovy, Mobileye’s Series Production unit delivers advance driving assist and autonomy level 3 systems to customers. His organization is responsible for meeting OEM and tier-1 feature requirements and product hardware and software integration. In this role, Yacovy leads multiple teams for product development, program execution, and safety, which includes the application of Mobileye’s Responsibility-Sensitive Safety (RSS) model, functional safety and nominal safety technologies.

Yacovy joined Mobileye in 2006 after five years at the Israeli Defense Force Intelligence Corps. He led project software development for Mobileye’s early generation EyeQ product before leaving for a one-year MBA at INSEAD Business School. Since his return, Yacovy has managed some of the most innovating series production programs at Mobileye, including the 3rd and 4th generation EyeQ.

Yacovy started his B.A. in Management and Computer Science at the age of 14. He also received an M.A. in Philosophy of Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He spends his free time with his wife and young daughter and enjoys skiing and off-road enduro motorcycle riding.
